Mabel Waldbeser
Mabel Waldbeser, 98, Milford, went to be with the Lord Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Milford, where she has been a resident for two and a half years.
Mabel was born Nov. 23, 1917, to Paul and Ida Mock Buhrt Milford. In 1949, she married Fred Waldbeser and they lived most of their married life in their Milford home.
They were the loving parents of one daughter, Connie, who died at age 16 in an auto accident.
Mabel was a member of the Milford United Methodist Church and was an American Legion Auxiliary life member. Prior to marriage, Mabel worked as a secretary for the Milford school system. In later years, she worked for Maple Leaf Duck Farms and The Paper of Milford before retirement.
Mabel cherished spending time with her family. She was an exceptional cook who shared many of her special dishes at family gatherings. One of the family favorites was her famous caramel corn recipe that all the family enjoyed. She was a special aunt to her many nieces and nephews and their children, not only for her cooking ability but for her unconditional affectionate love, hugs and kisses.
Mabel is survived by one brother, John Buhrt, Warsaw.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Waldbeser; her daughter, Connie Waldbeser; three brothers and three sisters: Lewis Buhrt, Ray Buhrt, Bob Buhrt, Hazel Buhrt (Mabel’s twin sister), Florence Nemeth and Violet Lutes.
Funeral arrangements are with Mishler Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Milford. A funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, at the funeral home with Rev. Robert Nelson officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to funeral service. Burial will follow at Milford Cemetery.
