NORTHERN INDIANA — The National Weather Service has extended the freezing rain advisory until 7 p.m. this evening, Monday, Dec. 28.

According to the NWS, warmer air lifting northward has changed most of the precipitation to rain. However, slick spots on roads remain possible through early evening. Ice accumulations on elevated surfaces such as power lines and trees will also persist throughout the evening.

Drivers are warned to proceed with caution as roads and walkways will be very slick. Some tree damage and power outages are expected as well.
