SYRACUSE — Turkey Creek EMS and Benton Township Fire Department responded to an accident scene this morning around 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of US Highway 6 and CR 33 (SR 13). The accident involved a horse and buggy that had been struck by a large Dodge Ram truck.

Reports at the scene indicated the red Ram truck struck the rear of the buggy which was traveling through the intersection.

One person needed assistance exiting the buggy, which had rolled on its side, and both the driver and passenger were checked at the scene. Turkey Creek EMS transported one person to IU Goshen Health for minor injuries.

The horse was disconnected from the buggy, and was lead away from the scene. The horse is expected to be uninjured.

Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department was on scene to assist.
