Triton Pounds Pioneer
ROYAL CENTER – Triton picked up its largest girls basketball win of the year, crushing Pioneer 55-24 Saturday night.
The Lady Trojans wasted no time in jumping out to a 17-4 lead in the first quarter and just kept pouring it on, spreading out a 33-9 lead at the half.
Hannah Wanemacher had the biggest game of her career, scoring a career-best 26 points. Nicole Sechrist had one of her finer outings as a Lady Trojan, scoring 14 points.
Mikenna Landis paced the Panthers with 12 points.
Triton’s JV also enjoyed a comfortable win, taking down Pioneer 40-15. Kaitlyn Bailey and Abigail Powell each scored 10 points while Courtney Jennings added eight points.
Triton moves to 5-9 overall and 4-0 in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference. The Lady Trojans will visit Warsaw Tuesday in a boys/girls doubleheader beginning at 6 p.m. with the girls game. Triton will then return Jan. 6 at Oregon-Davis. Pioneer (0-12, 0-5 HNAC) will return to action Jan. 5 at Rossville.
