Local Woman Publishes First Book
WARSAW — Darla McCammon is a well-traveled, award-winning artist, author and free-lance photojournalist. Her work has been published in numerous magazines, newspapers, and periodicals. McCammon authors two weekly newspaper columns and has been the editor of a number of publications. McCammon collaborated with photographer Al Disbro in 2012 to write a nonfiction book titled Winona Lake.
Diamond Bait is the first in a series written with the backdrop that McCammon loves to describe from her own personal experiences in the North Woods. McCammon invites readers to share her love and awe of the expansive northern terrain, while softly weaving her Christian values through the lives of her characters.
The people in her stories are flawed and human, like all of us, but they make choices that affect their lives through the experiences in each novel. Once you have read the thrilling and suspenseful Diamond Bait, you are sure to be greedy for The Lobstick Tree followed by Angel Bay.
McCammon lived in Southern California for 15 years but now resides in the midwest in a rural setting overlooking a teeming marsh. She lives with her husband, five dogs and several barn cats. Two daughters live nearby and two others live in Ohio and Florida respectively.
“I’m a ‘triple A’ person” McCammon says with a laugh. “I love art, authoring and animals.” McCammon divides her time between a job as executive director of the Animal Welfare League of Kosciusko County Indiana and her writing and painting. Watch out for another book written from the perspective of the animal shelter to come out soon also.
