FORT WAYNE — Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana is pleased to announce that ex-officio Board President Doug Schenkel was elected to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America National Leadership Council. A longtime member of the Board of Directors and Big Brother in both the Site-Based and Community-Based programs, Schenkel was elected as a representative from the Midwest Region for his deep commitment to the BBBS mission, his commitment to regional success, his ability to take a nationwide perspective on issues and his ability to lead effectively.
The NLC serves as the linkage between agency affiliates and the Big Brothers Big Sisters National office. This linkage is achieved by promoting engagement and communication between affiliates; by assisting the development and implementation of nationwide plans, programs and best practices; and by focusing on performance at the regional level. The NLC consists of 22 voting members: two affiliate board members, two affiliate executives from each of the five regions and the BBBSA COO and CEO. The NLC sets the P.A.C.E:
- Peer Leadership: Promotes engagement and communication among affiliates and BBBSA; encourages peer agency networks; promotes agency quality growth and nationwide goals.
- Advisory to BBBSA: Recommends strategic priorities; assures that BBBSA provides needed services to affiliates.
- Communications Link: Helps to create effective communications between the affiliates and BBBSA among the affiliates.
- Excellence in Standards and Performance: Suggests and approves changes/additions to standards and process improvements; encourages fact-based decision making and performance management.
