Irene H. Pulfer
Irene H. Pulfer, 94, a former resident of Churubusco, passed away at 4:55 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, 2015, at the Christian Care Center in Bluffton following an extended illness.
Irene was born in Wells County on Jan. 17, 1921, a daughter of Ernest and Elizabeth (Kipfer) Pulfer. Her early years were spent in Huntertown before moving to Churubusco with her parents in 1939 where she resided all of her adult life. Employed at General Electric in Fort Wayne for 47 years, she retired from there in 1987.
She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Leo and the General Electric Quarter Century Club. In her leisure time she enjoyed baking, gardening, and most of all her family. She was a loving aunt and will be missed by all her nieces and nephews.
The surviving relatives include her only sister: Sarah Reinhard, Bluffton; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers: Amos Pulfer; Raymond Pulfer; Lester Pulver; and Sylvon Pulfer.
Her wish, “I would hope any such service at my death would be kept simple and that it would reflect my calm confidence in His divine mercy.”
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7, at Leo Apostolic Christian Church, with Lynn Stieglitz, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Sheets and Childs Funeral Home from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, or one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Leo Cemetery, Allen County.
