Suetta Bechtel
Suetta Bechtel, 79, Goshen, died 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2015, at her home.
She was born Sept. 15, 1936 in Elkhart County to Joseph E. & Mary (Shaum) Martin. She married James “Jim” E. Bechtel on Nov. 14, 1955 in the Goshen area.
Suetta owned and operated the Oil Lamp Restaurant, New Paris, for 21 years from 1980-2001. She was a member of the Maple City Chapel and was a homemaker who loved to cook, sew and make quilts.
Surviving are her husband: Jim, Goshen; children: Betty Sue (Lamar) Yoder, Erma “Diane” Bechtel, James Alan Bechtel, Pamela Mae Prough, Susan Marie (Leon) Shetler, Eric Jay (Marsha) Bechtel, Phillip John Bechtel and Charity (David) Halcomb; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six brother and sisters.
Preceding her in death are her parents and 10 brothers and sisters.
A memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5, at Maple City Chapel, 2015 Lincolnway East, Goshen. Pastor Mel Shetler and Pastor Donnie Johnson will officiate. A private family burial was held on Monday, Nov. 30, at Yellow Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to IU Health Goshen Hospice.
