WINONA LAKE – The Lakeland Christian Academy girls basketball team came up on the short end of a 40-21 final to Bethany Christian Monday night.

The visiting Bruins led 8-5 after the opening quarter and 20-11 at halftime of the contest.

Carissa Urschalitz led the way for LCA with six points to go with 11 rebounds.

Rachel Sand also netted six points for the Cougars, while Hannah Delp chipped in with five points for the hosts.

Melissa Goss and Brady Gross each had two points and five rebounds for coach Allison Kauffman’s team. Ellie Nieveen grabbed eight rebounds for the Cougars.

Bethany Christian improves to 4-3 with its third straight win. LCA drops to 3-3.

LCA hosts Jimtown tonight. Bethany Christian hosts Prairie Heights on Dec. 3.
