Valley, Triton To Host Hoops Tourneys
Area girls basketball fans will be able to enjoy a pair of post holiday tournaments come Saturday.
Undefeated Tippecanoe Valley, which checks in at No. 7 in this week’s Class 3-A poll, will host its annual Thanksgiving Classic.
The Vikings, who were Class 3-A state runner-ups last season, are off to a 3-0 start after beating Warsaw 45-42 at home Friday night. Valley is scheduled to host Maconaquah Tuesday night in the Three Rivers Conference opener before its own tourney.
Valley will face Portage (4-2) at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the opener of their tourney. Westfield (6-0) will then play Fort Wayne South (1-1).
The consolation game at Valley begins at 6:15 p.m. with the championship contest to follow.
Admission is $6 per session or $10 for both sessions. Valley Sports Passes are not valid for this tournament.
Triton will also host a tournament Saturday. The Trojans, who are 0-5, will play Wawasee (2-2) in the opener at 10 a.m. Lebanon, who is 3-2 and ranked No. 8 in Class 3-A, will then face off with Leo (4-1).
The consolation game at Triton is set for 6 p.m. with the title game to follow.
The Trojans, who graduated all five starters from last year’s squad, play at NorthWood Tuesday night.
