WARSAW — For the past month, Mission Point Community Church has been running a generosity campaign called “LoveBlitz.” The goal has been to serve the community in tangible ways and raise money to support local charities while letting the people of Kosciusko County know that the church cares for them, and ultimately God cares for them. As Lead Pastor Kondo Simfukwe pointed out, “Too often the church is known for what it is against. We want to be known by what we are for.”
Tomorrow, around 40 people will be taking a bus to deliver over $25,000 that has been raised to help support and encourage some local organizations that work to serve the homeless, helpless, and hungry in our county. Those organizations include CASA, DCS, Fellowship Mission, Mason Health and Rehabilitation and Heartline. The bus will leave from the Manahan Orthopedic Capital Center at 12 p.m.
Today, along with Grace College, Mission Point is doing its annual Supermarket Sweep at Owens. From 10 a.m. to midnight, the community is encouraged to go and shop, but leave the groceries for the church to organize and donate to local food pantries. Last year the community purchased over $22,000 worth of food to donate.
Along with the Supermarket Sweep, Mission Point has been serving in tangible ways to support those already doing amazing work in our community. We helped to repaint the Fellowship Mission building, revamp a garden at Mason Health and Rehab, aided in set-up and tear-down for the CASA event and helped host a Christmas party for the Heartline group “Teens n Tots.” There are still opportunities to serve and this is a great way for those who do not have a lot of money to give back and be involved
