NWS Issues High Wind Watch Until Friday Morning
NORTHERN INDIANA — The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a high wind watch in effect from late tonight, Nov. 11, through Friday morning. Counties throughout northern Indiana, into Ohio and Michigan are under this watch.
Southwest winds will increase ahead of a strong cold front late tonight and switch to the west, intensifying further Thursday morning. Intense westerly winds will continue into Thursday evening before abating somewhat overnight.
Winds are expected to be 25 miles per hour to 35 mph with gusts to 45 mph late tonight and increasing to 25-40 mph with gusts to 55 mph Thursdays.
Wind speeds will be hazardous to high profile vehicles on north/south roadways with tree and powerline damage possible.
A watch means there is potential for a hazardous event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or stronger may occur.
