LONDON, ENGLAND — Halloween is typically a night when local police can expect a few strange calls, and this year in London, six men dressed as pylons topped the list.
Officers in Kingston upon Thames, a borough in southwest London, tweeted a photo with details of this humorous call from the dispatcher. Dressed as traffic cones, the men decided to do as traffic cones do, proving they could have probably ditched the costumes and still be called “pylons.”
It was a pretty straightforward description from the dispatcher: “Males dress as traffic cones (sic), blocking the road like traffic cones.”
“They were just standing in front of the taxi and the bus not letting them get past and taking pictures of themselves,” Dan Theochari told the Evening Standard. “I didn’t actually see the police I was waiting for a taxi but I saw it and it made me laugh.”
It’s not the first time human pylons have blocked off traffic. Video from two other incidents can be seen here and here.
In 2014, some people in Scotland put their own spin on things, stopping cars while dressed as bowling pins. A police car even played along, slowly “throwing a strike” before the pins jumped back up singing Chumbawumba’s “Tubthumping.”
