Garnett E. Short
Garnett E Short, 86, Wabash, died at 4:27 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, at Miller’s Merry Manor East in Wabash. She was born July 2, 1929, in Van Lear, Kentucky to Harry and Susie (Hall) Adams.
Garnett first married Clyde “Archie” Collins in Paintsville, Ky. in 1950; he died in 1995. Her second marriage was to Orville Short in Dayton, Ohio in 1972; he died in 1986. She retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Fairborn, Ohio, where she worked as a clerk-stenographer. Garnett was a member of the Washington Street Wesleyan Church in Wabash. She was a member of the Grace Church of the Nazarene in Dayton, Ohio for 35 years, and a former member of the Wrightview Church of the Nazarene in Fairborn.
She is survived by two children: James C. (Deborah) Collins, Woodbridge, Va.; and Jena K. (Gregory) Ross, Bend, Ore.; four grandchildren: Dennis (Katrina) Collins; Jennifer (Thomas) Drake, both of Woodbridge; Randall Evans Jr., Naselle, Wash.; and Matthew (Jennifer) Evans, Astoria, Ore.; and two sisters: Sue Adams, Wabash; and Phyllis (Charles) Price, Somerset. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Harry Adams Jr.; and Elmer Adams; and her sister: Bea Tabb.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash, with Dr. Ted Batson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 9:30-11:00 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, at the funeral home.
Preferred memorial is Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana, Indianapolis.
