Syracuse Teen Among Citations For Underage Drinking

ELKHART — The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department responded to an anonymous tip regarding an underage drinking party on Saturday, Oct. 10. The officers went to a residence is the 62000 block of CR 1. At the residence, officers found multiple people under the age of 21 who had been consuming alcoholic beverages. One of those individuals was from Syracuse.
There were nine people who were arrested for illegal consumption of an alcoholic beverage. Of the nine arrested, eight were between the ages of 18 and 20 and were cited and released. One juvenile, who was between the ages of 16 and 17, was released to a parent.
Those people who were cited and released were:
- Gatlin Grove, 18, Elkhart
- Madison Mack, 18, Mishawaka
- Tiffanie Alexander, 19, Nappanee
- Jerrecho Warnken, 18, Wakarusa
- Megan Grindle, 19, Syracuse
- Travis Eicher, 20, Millersburg
- Cody Anglemyer, 20, Nappanee
- Andrew Chapman, 19, Nappanee
The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Teenage Alcohol Reduction Team assisted with the investigation. The S.T.A.R. team is comprised of officers from the ELkhart County Sheriff’s Department. The team’s focus is to target and reduce underage drinking and smoking. S.T.A.R. members continue to deter, intervene and detect underage alcohol violations by educating the community and taking a proactive approach to deterrence and intervention when needed.
