WARSAW — The Symphony of the Lakes will present its fall concert, Heroes, at 7p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. The concert will feature the iconic musical themes of heroes, including a “Star Wars Epic Suite” and “007: Throughout the Years.”
Attendees are encouraged to come dressed in costume as their favorite heroes of fact or fiction. Adults who do so will receive a $5 discount on admission, while children in costume will be admitted free. After the performance’s 15-minute intermission, the audience will be invited to participate in a costume parade, set to John Williams’ Olympic theme, “Summon the Heroes.”
According to Symphony Director Thomas Stirling, children will be given a couple of surprises for attending the concert. Audience members will also be able to enter a drawing, the winner of which will receive four tickets to the Symphony’s holiday concert, Winter Magic.
Other music featured at the event will include Star Trek, Chronicles of Narnia, the Dark Knight trilogy, Spider-Man, Gladiator and Rossini’s William Tell Overture.
Subscriptions for the 2015-2016 Symphony of the Lakes season will also be available at the concert, and include admission to all four shows: Heroes on Oct. 10, Winter Magic featuring choirs from Warsaw Community Schools on Dec. 12, Celebrate the Americas on March 20, 2016, and Around the World on April 30.
The Symphony of the Lakes held auditions Sept. 19 to add new members to its roster for the 2015-2016 season. The new orchestra members include: Michael O’Gieblyn from Winona Lake (Principal Second Violin), Jae Sung Lee from South Bend (Section Violin), Joshua Yoder from Goshen (Section Violin), David Machavariani from South Bend (Section Cello), John Meulink from Warsaw (Utility and Section Horn), and Pauline Benner from Fort Wayne (Second Oboe).

The Symphony encourages purchasing tickets in advance, although admission will also be available at the door, depending on availability. The cost of admission is $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for children up to age 12. All attendees in costume will receive a $5 discount, so pull out those heroic costumes and plan to attend Heroes. Call the box office at (574) 267-8041 with any questions.
