TVSC Students Serve As Board Representatives

Tippecanoe Valley High School Board Of Trustees Student Representative
In high school there are many opportunities available by volunteering. There are many clubs that fit the interests and hobbies of our diverse student body. After experiencing injuries that would make sports a questionable activity for me, it left me with not much else to do. I believe God gives us opportunities at specific times in our life to not only benefit us but others as well.
Being the Tippecanoe Valley High School Board representative was one of those opportunities in which I was more than happy to participate in. This role has brought me to look at the school in a different way; a way in which I observe the numerous, vast array of things we are doing for kids. Like I said, God gives us opportunities that benefit us personally as well as others.
Being in the position of high school representative brought to light how much I cared about our kids and their education. I contacted Mr. Parker and asked about an internship. I am now interning at Tippecanoe Valley Middle School in the math department with Mr. Landis. I am very much enjoying my time with the students while joking with Mr. Landis and Mr. Hinkle in the mornings before school starts.
I only participate in one club, which I am very passionate about. This club is new and is led by Mr. Jeff Shriver, the archery/outdoor club. Being an avid hunter and fisherman, I was enticed greatly by the chance to participate in state archery competitions and talk about the great outdoors that God created. I feel like this club was made specifically for me and my friends who are less interested in sports.
In our community, the outdoor lifestyle is very prevalent. Many of you, I am sure, remember checking your deer into Ace Hardware in Mentone. One of the greatest and most proud moments of my life was having people look in the back of the truck at the first deer I have ever harvested. The outdoors isn’t just a place; it’s a lifestyle and this club definitely highlights that for the kids who live it. Life is full of opportunities and so is Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation.
Madison Miller is currently a senior at Tippecanoe Valley High School. This will be her second year being a board meeting representative for her class. She is currently class president of our student council, an active member of national honor society, sunshine society and the Tippecanoe Valley volleyball team. She was honored to be asked to represent her class in front of the school board. She enjoyed it very much last year and expects to enjoy it just as much this year. She is very grateful for the opportunity to share all the great things that are happening at Tippecanoe Valley High School as well as for the experience.
