IPFW Announces High School Art Competition, Exhibition
FORT WAYNE — The IPFW Departments of Fine Arts and Visual Communication and Design will sponsor the second annual High School Art Competition and Exhibition. This event is an opportunity for high school students to have their artwork accepted for display in an exhibition judged by faculty of the IPFW Departments of Fine Arts and Visual Communication and Design.
Accepted works will be eligible for a variety of awards including cash awards and full scholarships for IPFW’s Saturday Studio classes through the Community Arts Academy. Those interested can enter the competition at: bit.ly/ipfw-hs-exhibition-2015.
The competition is open to all high school students in Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. All work must be original and completed by the student in 2014-15.
Department of Fine Arts cash awards are as follows:
- First place — $250
- Second place — $200
- Third place — $150
Department of Visual Communication and Design cash awards are as follows:
- First place — $250
- Second place — $200
- Third place — $150
The exhibition of accepted works will be Nov. 16, through Dec.12, in the IPFW visual arts gallery. The awards presentation will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, in the Auer Performance Hall. Along with the reception, there will be an open house featuring studio and lab demonstrations and displayed artwork.
Electronic entries must be submitted by Sunday, Oct. 18, and accepted entrants will be notified by Saturday, Oct. 24. Those who wish to enter the competition can do so at bit.ly/ipfw-hs-exhibition-2015.
Students will register for the competition on SlideRoom with its easy, user-friendly features. Applicants will pay a one time $5 non-refundable fee for the opportunity to upload five pieces of artwork for the judge’s consideration to be included in the exhibition. The fee can be paid with either a credit card or debit card. Approximately 50 to 60 pieces of artwork will be selected to be included in the exhibition.
