Grace College Prepares For Homecoming
Grace College homecoming celebration will kick off in late September this year with a full range of activities offered by both Grace College and the town of Winona Lake, including a pancake breakfast, tailgate barbecue, Nocturnal 6 Adventure Race, class reunion dinners and a Steven Curtis Chapman concert.
An alumni welcome reception and coffee bar kicks off the weekend on Friday, Sept. 25, as well as a special homecoming chapel and awards presentation at the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center in Winona Lake.
The afternoon and evening will be filled with options for visitors, including an art exhibit from 1-5 p.m. in the Mount Memorial Art Gallery, tours through the Winona History Center and Billy Sunday Home, and a campus bus tour. The evening offers a Seminary Alumni Reception from 3-4 p.m. at the William Male Center for Seminary and Graduate Counseling, a 50th anniversary soccer celebration at 6 p.m. at Rodeheaver Auditorium as well as a GOAL reunion dessert in the Westminster Hall Rainbow Room at 7:30 p.m.
On Saturday, Sept. 26, a pancake breakfast at 8:30 a.m. kicks off the day’s sporting events, which include The Mike Grill Tennis Alumni Tournament, a softball red/black scrimmage, and Lancer alumni basketball and baseball games. A family tailgate barbecue and The Grace Family Fall Festival will take place prior to the men’s soccer game versus Indiana Wesleyan University.
The homecoming banquet for Grace alumni of all ages starts at 5 p.m., and afterwards, visitors will have the opportunity to attend a Steven Curtis Chapman concert at 8:30 p.m. at the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts in Warsaw. The Nocturnal 6 adventure race caps off the weekend’s festivities, beginning at 8:30 p.m. at the Gordon Recreation Center on the Grace College campus. Register at www.metzgeroutdoors.com.
Tables will be reserved for each class reunion during the homecoming banquet on Saturday, Sept. 26, in Rodeheaver Auditorium. Some classes have also planned gatherings in addition to the banquet.
