Homecoming Week Earlier For Wawasee This Year

SYRACUSE — Wawasee High School will be celebrating the annual homecoming week a bit earlier this year. Normally in October, instead it will be the week of Sept. 21-25.
Activities will include dress up days, penny race, alcove decorating and a talent show. The week will culminate with the crowning of homecoming royalty during halftime of the Wawasee-Plymouth football game Friday evening, Sept. 25.
Following is a breakdown by day of the week’s activities:
• Monday, Sept. 21, dress up jersey day and penny race
• Tuesday, Sept. 22, dress up Hawaiian day, penny race and capture the flag
• Wednesday, Sept. 23, dress up theme day, also alcove decorations will be judged at 7:30 a.m., penny race and then a talent show from 7 to 9 p.m.
• Thursday, Sept. 24, all of the school voting for homecoming king and queen, dress up thrift shop day and final day of the penny race
• Friday, Sept. 25, dress up day and the football game in the evening
Class competitions will be held in the penny race, skits and alcove decorations with themes of “Pirates of the Caribbean” for seniors, “Star Wars” for juniors, “Jurassic Park” for sophomores and “James Bond” for freshmen.
