NORTH WEBSTER — Do you have unwanted household goods you would like to get rid of? Are you looking for some great bargains? Then participate in the Friends of the Library’s Swap Till You Drop event and help out needy children in the process.
Here’s how it works: Bring up to five household items to the library 3-6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24 or 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Sept. 25, and get one swap ticket for each item. Items must be clean and in good working condition. No electronics, large appliances, large furniture, or clothing will be accepted. Then return 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 26, to the North Webster Community Center and trade your swap tickets for things you want.
When bringing in your household items to trade on Thursday and Friday, the Friends of the Library asks you donate a new package of boys or girls socks or underwear that will be donated to needy children at North Webster Elementary School. It’s a win-win for everyone. You trade stuff you don’t want for stuff you do and children get the socks and underwear they need. Any questions can be directed to Friends of the library liaison Beth Smith at (574) 834-7122 ext. 205.
Preschool story time is a win-win for young children as they learn through stories, activities, and crafts. The eight-week fall session begins Wednesday, Sept. 23 and is held every Wednesday morning through Nov. 11, with a choice of two time periods at 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
The children will be learning about transportation with the theme “How Do You Go”. You can register your child for preschool story time, geared to ages 3-5, at the youth services desk, call (574) 834-7122 ext. 202, or e-mail [email protected].
The whole family can go to the movies free during the library’s Family Movie Time 5 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 24. Even the popcorn is free! Showing is an animated fantasy film inspired by William Shakespeare’s comedy play “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The movie is rated PG and runs 99 minutes.
On the adult side, Writer’s Corner meets 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21 to share essays each has written about their legacy while R.E.A.D Book Club meets later that day at 5:30 p.m. to discuss Tess Gerritsen’s novel The Bone Garden. On Tuesday, Sept. 22, Revolving Recipe Round-Up gets together at 5:30 to share their favorite dishes.
