Donald R. Sparks
Donald R. Sparks, 79, Sebring, Fla., died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2015, at Good Shepherd Hospice in Auburndale, Fla.
He was born March 27, 1937, in Pierceton to Fred and Thelma (Archer) Sparks. He married Kathryn “Katie” Unrue on Feb. 28, 2002, in Warsaw. He worked as a machinist at Zimmer for 22 years before retiring in 1992, and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Post 258, Pierceton, and the V.F.W Post 4300, Sebring, Fla.
Donald is survived by his wife: Katie Sparks, Sebring, Fla.; son: Donnie (Julie) Sparks Jr., Columbia City; daughter: Michele (Matt) Tolson, Claypool; stepsons: Shawn (Elizabeth) Breidinger, Plainfield; and Christopher (Brenda) Breidinger, Churubusco; 11 grandchildren; and sister: Marcele Mathys, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Marshall Sparks; half-brother: Duane VanCuren; half-sisters: Mirriam Ring; and Virginia Spry.
There will be a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Syracuse, officiated by Pastor Chris Stahlman of South Whitley United Methodist Church. Military graveside honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 258, Pierceton. Titus Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
