Jane Ellen Trenkner
Jane Ellen Trenkner, 89, residing in Elkhart, and formerly of South Bend, passed away on Monday, Sept. 7, 2015, at Hubbard Hills Estates, Elkhart.
Jane was born on Oct. 5, 1925, in Nappanee, to the late Charles F. McFall and Mabel I. (Lamb) McFall, and has lived in this area since 1949, coming from Nappanee. She graduated from Nappanee High School.
On June 18, 1949, she was united in marriage to Edward J. Golightly, who preceded her in death on July 24, 1981. They were married for 34 years prior to Edward’s death. On Jan. 1, 1983 in South Bend, she married Richard W. Trenkner, who has also preceded her in death on March 31, 2001.
Jane was a registered nurse, receiving her RN Diploma in 1947 from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a nurse at Memorial Hospital for many years, and also worked in administration at the School of Nursing, retiring in 1982. In 1978 she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from St. Mary of the Woods. Jane attended First Presbyterian Church, South Bend, where she served as a Deacon and Elder. She was also actively involved in Circle 1 of Presbyterian Woman.
Jane is survived by her daughter: Margaret J. (Dan) Swindler, Elkhart; son: Edward J. (Kathleen) Golightly Jr., Indianapolis; grandsons: James Golightly; and Evan Golightly. Along with her parents: Charles F. and Mabel I. McFall; first husband: Edward J. Golightly; second husband: Richard W. Trenkner; she was preceded in death by her sister: Margaret E. McFall; and brother: John G. McFall.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. William Buckley for his exceptional care for their mother. Also, many thanks to Jane’s wonderful caregivers, Tanya, Mildred, and Michelle and to the entire staff at Hubbard Hills Estates that has touched her life in such a beautiful way. Finally, special thanks to friends and family for your many visits, phone calls, and prayers.
Memorial services for Jane Ellen Trenkner will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Chapel at Hubbard Hills Estates, Elkhart. Chaplain Dave Severance will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger, where she will be laid to rest next to Edward J. Golightly. Memorial contributions may be made to Hubbard Hills Estate. Palmer Funeral Homes is assisting the family with arrangements.
