Barbara ‘Jodie’ Cook Atkinson
Barbara “Jodie” Cook Atkinson, 83, of Indianapolis, and formerly of Mentone, where her and her husband Dr. David Cook practiced and lived from 1975 to 1984, passed away at 3:03 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015, at Community East Hospital of Indianapolis.
She was born Nov. 6, 1931, in Indianapolis, to Leo and Esther (Brummet) Miller, who are preceded. She married on Jan. 31, 1953 in Indianapolis, to Dr. David L. Cook, he preceded on July 27, 1995. She then married Feb. 14, 1997 to Raymond Atkinson who preceded in 1999. She was a dental assistant and was the Treasurer of the Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist of Indianapolis. Jodie was a graduate of Howe High School in 1949. She was a member of the Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist of Indianapolis.
She is survived by daughter: April (Terry) Menzie, Mentone; Laura (Timothy) England, Mentone; sons: James David Cook, Newcastle; Dana C. Cook, Indianapolis; David (Rhonda) Cook III, Ossian; Christopher (Jennifer) Cook, New Palestine; seven grandchildren: Ryan; Lyndsey; Holly; Kelly; Andrew; Kayla; and Austin; 10 great-grandchildren; brother: Melville Miller. She was preceded in death by husbands; son: Brian M. Cook; granddaughter: Marley Garret Cook; two sisters; one brother.
Private family services will be held at a later date at the Mentone Cemetery, Mentone.
