Donald R. Helmuth, age 61, Milford, passed away at 1:02 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne from injuries received in a horse riding accident on Aug. 18, 2015. He was born April 21, 1954, in Bremen to Crist E. and Wilma (Yoder) Helmuth.

Mr. Helmuth lived his lifetime in this area. He married Carol Kay Graber on Oct. 29, 1978. He was employed at Smart Cabinets in New Paris and was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Mr. Helmuth is survived by his wife: Carol; children: Adam (Lorene) Helmuth, Milford; Thomas (Catherine) Helmuth, Goshen; Lea Helmuth, Milford; grandchildren: Melissa and Caleb Helmuth; sisters: Frieda (Willis) Lehman, Nappanee; Erma (Mel) Schmucker; Laura Stutzman; Mary Lou (Merlin) Mullet, all of Etna Green; Martha (Ray) Whetstone, Shipshewana; brothers: Homer (Janet) Helmuth, Mesa, Ariz.; Ed (Connie) Helmuth; Merle (Nora) Helmuth, both of Bremen; Floyd (Rose) Helmuth, Nappanee; and sister-in-laws: Martha Helmuth; and Janet Helmuth, both of Goshen. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Eli and Lamar Helmuth.

Family and friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, and all day Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the family residence. Funeral services will begin at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, also at the family residence. Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate. Burial will be in Union Center West Cemetery.
