Tigers Power Past Spartans
WARSAW – An impressive start to the volleyball season continued for the Warsaw program Monday night. With powerful Homestead in the Tiger Den, Warsaw took no prisoners and swept all three matches. The varsity won 25-15, 25-20, 25-20 and the JV and freshman teams followed suit in two-game sweeps.
The varsity moved to 7-0 with another complete team effort. Cassie Hoag had a big night, posting 24 assists, 10 digs and two aces. Caroline Mayer and Jordyn Lindeman each had seven kills and the combo of Lindeman and Lexie Day combined for three block. Day added six kills.
Peyton Adamiec had 15 digs and Haley Peterson and Blake McGarvey combined for five aces.
The JV team from Warsaw knocked off Homestead 25-23, 25-10 to move to 3-0 overall.
Raina Armey and Hanna Leach led Warsaw in two categories, Armey in digs with eight and aces with four while Leach have five kills and a block. Kacy Bragg added nine assists and four kills and Erin Peugh killed five points.
The freshman team moved to 3-0 with the two-set win. Its scores and stats against Homestead were not reported.
Warsaw’s varsity will next play Saturday in the ultra-competitive Mishawaka Invite against the likes of Carmel, Mishawaka Marian and Elkhart Memorial. Highly-ranked Indianapolis Cathedral will also be in action at Mishawaka.
