Brooks O. Heffley
Brooks O. Heffley, 54, Churubusco, passed away Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, at his home. He had been in failing health for three years, but had been more seriously ill for the past year.
Heffley was born Sept. 1, 1960, in Fort Wayne, a son of Harold D. and Helen J. (Timmerman) Heffley, and was a lifelong resident of Whitley County. He had lived at his present home in Churubusco since 2007.
Heffley was a self-employed carpenter for most of his adult life, and was a member of the Gilbert Davis American Legion Post 157 in Churubusco.
He married Chari (Skinner) Wireman on Dec. 7, 2001, in Wolf Lake, who survives.
The other surviving relatives include his four stepchildren: Amber (T. J.) Hargett, Gastonia, N.C.; Adam (Jacquie) Wireman, Fort Wayne; Ashlee (Sam) Seabold, Fort Wayne; Alan (Amanda Myers) Wireman, Churubusco; two brothers: Leon (Toni) Heffley, Columbia City; Robert Heffley, South Whitley; two step-brothers: Jeff Maloney, Huntington; Scott (Cindy) Maloney, Lebanon; three grandchildren: Ben Wireman; Elizabeth Wireman; and Logan Hargett.
His parents preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at the Sheets and Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco with Rev. Aaron Peer, pastor of Charter Oak Community Church, officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 4-8 p.m., or one hour prior to the service Tuesday afternoon.
Interment will be in the Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Churubusco United Methodist Food Pantry, Churubusco.
