Abandoned Farmer’s Market Gets New Tenant
ELKHART — The American Countryside Farmer’s Market building, left untouched since 2011, has been newly adopted by president of the American Countryside Farmer’s Market, John Levy.
Levy, who entered a rental agreement in April, plans to make the building into a retail marketplace, including a live auction venue, six restaurants and a department store with 41 departments. The restaurants will include kitchen classes taught by local chefs, and the third floor of the building will be used for overflow computer sales to Amazon.
The building has turned business plans over three times since its inception in 2007, but Levy hopes to break that pattern with his new plans.
There is no grand opening date yet, but Levy says Elkhart residents can expect the shop to open and be successful.
