Richmond Wadkins
Richmond Wadkins of Silver Lake, passed away at 7:35 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2015, at his residence at the age of 68.
He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1965-1974, and served two tours in Vietnam in 1965 then again in 1969.
Richmond was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, where he worked as a machinist for over 30 years at Zimmer, Inc. of Warsaw. He had lived in Ocala, Fla. for four years after retiring, and while there he was a member of the Ocala V.F.W and the Bellview American Legion. He was an EMT for South Central EMS in Silver Lake for 15 years.
He was born on Oct. 1, 1946, in Floyd County, Ky. to Nero Wadkins and Minerva (Robinson) Wadkins. He was married to Bobby (Perkins) Wadkins, who survives in Silver Lake.
He also leaves behind four brothers: Bill (Mary) Wadkins, Silver Lake; Lon (Brenda) Wadkins, Disco; Loyd (Kathy) Wadkins, Silver Lake; Johnny (Janet) Wadkins, Talma; and his sister: Joyce (Jerry) Hoskins, Akron. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister: Charlotte Oaks.
His memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, and officiated by Paul Coplen.
Memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society, Mishawaka, or to the Wounded Warrior Project, Topeka, Kan., and would be appreciated by the family
