School Bus Struck, Two Children Suffer Minor Injuries
NORTH WEBSTER — Two students on a Wawasee Community School Corporation bus suffered minor injuries Wednesday morning, Aug. 12. The bus was struck by another motorist. The accident was at 7:58 a.m. at North CR 500E and East CR 650N, North Webster.
Eva Mock, 6, Syracuse, complained of pain to the neck. Jonathan Currie, 11, Syracuse, complained of pain to the head. Both were checked by paramedics and released to their parents for any further treatment. The 18 other children on the bus were reportedly not injured.
Kosciusko County Police report Cameron M. Brill, 16, EMS B40A Lane, Leesburg, was westbound on CR 650N. He made a right hand turn to go north onto CR 500E and told police he was going too fast to turn into the proper lane of travel, hitting the left front corner of the school bus. The bus, driven by Sarie M. Gunkel, 36, North Third Trail, North Webster, was southbound on CR 500E.
Brill also complained of pain to the head but refused medical treatment.
Damage was estimated up to $10,000.
