Maria (Castro) Santos-Rubio, 90, of Wabash, passed away at 12:31 a.m. on Aug. 17, 2015 at Miller’s Merry Manor West in Wabash. She was born to the late Silvestre and Isabel (Rangel) Castro on March 30, 1925, in Alamo, Texas.
Maria grew up around Edinburg, Texas. She lived most of her life in Port Lavaca, Texas, she also lived in LaFontaine, and Fairmont, towards the later years of her life. One year in Parr, Texas from 2011-2012. She did live for a few years in other states with relatives in Mount Angel, Oregon, Wilder, Idaho, and Washington State. Maria was a cook for several Mexican Restaurants while living in Port Lavaca, Texas. Maria lived most of her life close to her only sister, Edubijes Castro Carrillo, they maintained a close bond as sisters and best of friends until her sister passed away in 2002.
Maria is survived by sons: Alturo Ramirez, Fairmount; Adrian Rubio, Texas; Esiquio Rubio, Woodbridge, Va.; daughter: Maria Angelita (Ramirez) Villarreal, Quinlan, Texas; brothers; Nabor Castro, Mount Angel, Ore.; and Macario Castro, Mount Angel, Ore.; close nieces and nephews: Edwina (Michael) Keen, Wabash; Nasaria Weaver, Wabash; Alfouse Rodriguez, Noblesville; daughter-in-law: Maria Monzon Juarez; 13 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons: Rosendo Juarez; and Guadalupe Juarez; two brothers: Guadalupe Castor; and Antonio Castro; sister: Edubijes Carrillo; and a grandson.
No Services will be held. Preferred memorials are directed to Miller’s Merry Manor West-Activity Fund, Wabash.
