Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
4:40 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, South 1000W, north of West 600S, Warsaw. Driver: Maria D. Jesus Baca, 22, East North Street, North Webster. While Baca was southbound, a dog ran in front of her car. She swerved to miss it and left the road, hitting an REMC utility pole, then landing in a cornfield. Indiana DNR conservation officers first arrived at the scene and assisted with the investigation. REMC was notified of the damage. Baca complained of ankle pain but refused EMS treatment. Damage up to $10,000.
12:04 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, 2105 North Biomet Drive, Warsaw. Driver: Dennis L. Groninger, 69, West SR 114, Silver Lake. While attempting to turn around, Groninger struck the rear driver’s side of a vehicle that was parked for sale at a sales lot. There were no injuries reported. Damage up to $2,500.
2:13 p.m. Monday, Aug. 3, South SR 13 and South CR 500E, Pierceton. Drivers: Sarah A. Wood, 34, South SR 13, North Manchester, and Larry W. Sidwell, 53, Glenn Echo Drive, Anderson. Sidwell sustained head and internal injuries and was flown to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne. Wood turned into the path of the Sidwell motorcycle. Damage up to $50,000.
11:29 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, West SR 25, east of South CR 1300W, Mentone. Driver: Edwin A. McMichael, 49, North Maple Street, Argos. A dog entered the roadway and collided into the McMichael vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
Pierceton
Officers with the Pierceton Police Department investigated the following accident:
8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 5, US 30 and Mile Market 98, Pierceton. Drivers: Colville Colville, 38, Briar Ridge Circle, Warsaw, and Ernie Morrison, 53, Husky Trail, Warsaw. Colville complained of pain to the chest but refused treatment. Colville started getting close to the back of the dump truck, driven by Morrison, but could not pass. When he applied his brakes, the brakes failed causing his vehicle to hit the back of the dump truck. Damage up to $10,000.
Syracuse
Officers with the Syracuse Police Department investigated the following accident:
7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 4, Warrior Path, east of Kern Road, Syracuse. Drivers: Everett C. Lockhart, 45, North CR 650E, Warsaw, and Zachary J. McKee, 17, North CR 300E, Syracuse. Lockhart’s vehicle struck the back of the McKee vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
7:09 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7, at the intersection of Shelden Street and West 300N, Warsaw. Drivers: Robert D. Allen, 83, West 675N, Leesburg, and Keanu N. Hensley, 19, East 800N, Syracuse. While southbound on Shelden Street, Allen stopped the intersection of 300N, then proceeded. He did not see Hensley’s vehicle approaching. Hensley stated he was going about 50 miles per hour and hit his brakes, slowing to about 35 miles per hour before colliding with Allen’s vehicle, causing it to roll over onto the driver’s side. Allen and a passenger climbed out through the vehicle’s rear hatch. A witness was also on hand and described the accident. No injuries were reported. Both vehicles were towed. Damage up to $10,000.
5:56 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, East Center Street and South Harrison Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Glenda J. Pachniak, 60, East Laurien Court, Warsaw, and Earl L. Futch, 78, East Jefferson Street, Warsaw. Pachniak disregarded a red light hitting the Futch vehicle.Damage up to $5,000.
5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, East Center Street and South Bronson Street, Warsaw. Drivers: Martin B. Sacks, 68, East CR 700S, Warsaw, and Lezlie A. Leeka, 25, South CR 500E, Columbia City. Due to the glare of the sun, Sacks could not see the traffic signal had changed to red, driving into the intersection at the same time as the Leeka vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
4:41 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, Lake City Highway and North CR 150W, Warsaw. Drivers: Joshua D. Tincher, 35, Lincolndale Avenue, Fort Wayne, and Brent A. Hammond, 31, North Pearl Street, Etna Green. Tincher’s vehicle struck the back of the Hammond vehicle. Damage up to $2,500.
