According to the affidavit of probable cause, on July 6, officers used a confidential informant to purchase heroin from Heather May. Police spoke with May on July 13 and advised her of the purchase. She questioned police who the informant was and stated she believed it was a male.
Police then received information on July 29, that Cory Hummitch had been severely beaten by May and her boyfriend, Brooke, related to a prior drug purchase. Police spoke with Hummitch the following day observing a face that was severely bruised and a cut on his left hand.
Hummitch reported on July 21 he was at his home when he heard someone beating on the door. May walked into the home uninvited and began yelling and screaming at him wanting to know the location of two individuals, who she claimed were “snitches.”
He also told police Brooke came into his home, uninvited, and asked for the same individuals. Hummitch stated Brooke placed a large folding knife to his neck, again asking where the two individuals were.
Hummitch was able to grab Brooke’s hand and tried to push it away from his throat to keep from getting cut, but instead cut his hand. Brooke then reportedly head butted Hummitch in the face, beat him and threatened him while May was yelling at him.
Brooke reportedly moved the knife to Hummitch’s stomach and groin area while threatening him.
When May received a text message, she told Brooke they need to leave because Hummitch did not know anything. Brooke threatened to kill Hummitch, gave him 24 hours to leave town. He moved out of his residence at that time fearful Brooke would find him.
Hummitch reportedly has been experiencing extreme pain, headaches and bleeding from his nose. He did go to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment.
May’s Drug Charges
May’s drug charges, also filed Aug. 4, stems from a July 6, undercover purchase of heroin from May for $90. According to the document, the purchase was made inside the May home.
The informant gave police three aluminum foil squares containing heroin that was purchased and informed police May stated she had a lot more heroin, approximately $600 worth.
The three packets weighed 1.6 grams.
