Alcohol and Tobacco Commission Approves Multiple Renewals
KOSCIUSKO — The Kosciusko County Alcohol and Tobacco Commission held its monthly meeting today, Aug. 6, at 1 p.m. Fourteen renewals were on the agenda for the meeting, and the commission approved all renewals on the agenda.
Each of the following renewals were approved with a single motion: SS Lillypad II, Syracuse; Beef’s Booze Barn, Syracuse; Service Liquors, Warsaw; CVS Pharmacy, Syracuse; McClure Oil, Silver Lake; New Market, Syracuse; CVS Pharmacy, North Webster; Noble Stores II, Syracuse; CVS Pharmacy, Warsaw; The Post, Pierceton; Louie’s Bar & Grill, Syracuse; Cerulean, Winona Lake; and The Frog Tavern, Syracuse.
Pierceton Discount Package Store was up for renewal with one violation. The violation contained two charges, selling commodities the store wasn’t approved for and smoking in a public place. Pierceton Discount Package Store paid $250 in fines for the violation. The commission approved them for renewal.
Continued from last month was the renewal from Oakwood Resort, Syracuse. Oakwood was up for renewal with three violations. Two of the violations were from July 2014, for serving a minor and serving with no permit. The other violation was from August or September 2014 for illegal storage of alcohol. Oakwood Resort provided their alcohol awareness action plan and stated that all employees currently hold their alcohol permits. The resort paid over $3,000 in fines. The commission approved Oakwood Resort for renewal.
Cerulean had a question regarding a transfer of title. The restaurant wanted to change the name on their permit from Fly Fishing Inc. to Cerulean Winona Lake LLC. The motion was delayed until next month’s meeting.
The next meeting of the ATC will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3.
