Bertha Verhaeghe, 97, of Bremen, passed away at 7:25 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2015, in Signature Health Care of Bremen.

Bertha was born on Jan. 25, 1918, in Bremen, the daughter of the late Fritz and Bertha (Zingg) Weber. On Dec. 30, 1939, in Mishawaka, she married Henry “Hank” Verhaeghe. He passed away on Aug. 9, 2009.

She is survived by three sons: Michael (Lynn) Verhaeghe, Bremen; Larry (Lori) Verhaeghe, Bremen; and Richard Verhaeghe, Plymouth; daughter-in-law: Linda Verhaeghe, Plymouth; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: Leon; grandson: Robert; and seven siblings.

Bertha was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church. She enjoyed cooking and baking. She was a loving mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her family.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday, July 31, in Mishler Funeral Home, Bremen. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home with burial to follow in Bremen Cemetery. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Signature Health Care for their loving care. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Center for Hospice.
