After the program, be sure to visit the library to check out some books to read, movies to watch or some summer tunes to listen to. The Library has what you are looking for, and if we don’t, we can get it, usually within a week.
Family Summer Story Time
Visit the library on Friday, July 31, for the last week of Family Summer Story Time! Melinda Roose will share stories about heroes in the animal kingdom. After Melinda shares stories, the children get to make a craft and enjoy a snack. Each family who participates in story time will receive a book to add to their home library. Join us for our last story time of the summer at 10 a.m. or 11 a.m. Friday, July 31. Call us at (574) 658-4312 with any questions.
Dial-A-Story for Children
Children love to use Dial-A-Story. By calling (574) 658-9540, children can listen to a story over the phone. The story is changed weekly, so there is always something new to listen to. Help your child dial today.
Friends of the Library
Do you have lots of books sitting around, cluttering your house? Why not donate them to the library for others to buy and read. The Friends of the Library welcomes all your donations of gently used books, CDs, DVDs, magazines, and sheet music. Feel free to go through our collection and purchase a few things as well. All proceeds go back to the library. Friends are also selling cloth book bags for $12. Come in and purchase a bag at the circulation desk upstairs and support your local library.
Release of Go Set a Watchman
The Tuesday, July 14, release of Harper Lee’s “Go Set a Watchman” has attracted much media attention. “Go Set a Watchman” is the sequel to the Pulitzer Prize- winning “To Kill a Mockingbird,” Harper Lee’s first and believed, only novel, until “Go Set a Watchman: was discovered. Harper Lee is now 89 years old and there has been some controversy whether Lee really wanted the book to be published. The story takes place in Maycomb, Ala., two decades after the events in “To Kill a Mockingbird.” Scout is now 26 years old and returns home from New York City to visit her aging father, Atticus.
Our copy of “Go Set a Watchman” is now available to check out, or place on reserve. We also have “To Kill a Mockingbird” available in book and DVD format. Call (574) 658-4312 to place a reserve on the books or movie today.
