Officers Make Arrest For Drug Possession At Waubee Lake
MILFORD — During a routine traffic patrol Thursday afternoon, Milford Town Marshal Rich Miotto noticed some suspicious behavior that led to the arrest of a male subject.
While driving past Milford Town Park at Waubee Lake, Miotto said he noticed a car filled with four people and clothing draped over the doors and windows. When Miotto pulled up beside the car, the passengers began slamming doors and Miotto detected an odor of marijuana.
Miotto phoned for extra police, including a K-9 unit, and Indiana State Police, Warsaw police and the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department arrived on scene.
The Warsaw K-9 unit confirmed drugs were present and officers began to search the vehicle. One adult male took ownership of the amount of marijuana found, claiming it was a medicinal purchase. The man did present a Michigan medical license for the marijuana, which is not honored in Indiana.
KCSD Officer Rick Shepherd transported the male to Kosciusko County Jail.
