Mary Rose Young
With the grace of God at her side, Mary Rose Young, 88, of Nappanee, died peacefully at her son, Kendall’s home at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015. She had been in ill health for six weeks.
She was born Sept. 12, 1926, in South Bend to Scott and Effie June (Schott) Harris. On July 28, 1946, she married Robert M. Young. He preceded in death Sept. 19, 1981.
Mrs. Young was a 1944 graduate of Lakeville High School. She was a homemaker and had worked as an accountant for Marathon Oil Company in Nappanee. She was a member of Nappanee Missionary Church and a part of the Quilting Ladies at the Church. She was also a member and past president of the Nappanee American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She had also held many other offices in the Auxiliary.
Mrs. Young is survived by her children: Ira Clayton (Carol) Young, West Lafayette; June (Robert) Geiger, Columbia City; and Kendall (Kim) Young, Nappanee; grandchildren: Kyle (Katie) Young, Syracuse; Kurt (Jen) Young, Nappanee; Jeffery Greiger, Torzana, Calif.; Ashley (Jason) Lee, Lafayette; three great-grandchildren: Parker; Emma; Maxton; and three step grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two infant daughters.
Family and friends may call from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee and for one hour prior to the Funeral Service, which will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 27. Pastor Joe Focht will officiate and burial will be in Hepton Union Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be given to Nappanee American Legion or The Center for Hospice.
