Lewis E. Yoder
Lewis E. Yoder, age 86, of Nappanee, died at 4:45 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2015, at Elkhart Hospice House after a short illness. He was born Sept. 30, 1928 in Bremen to Elva E. and Lydiann (Mast) Yoder.
On July 1, 1950, he married Doris Marie Sparks in Pierceton. She preceded in death April 15, 2000. His second marriage was to Betty Stutzman. She preceded in death June 19, 2009.
Mr. Yoder lived his lifetime in the Nappanee area. He had worked at Mutschler Brothers and then retired as a Supervisor at Nappanee Wood Products. He also had worked for 35 years at Port-a-Pit in Wakarusa. Lewis was a member of Nappanee United Methodist Church and the Nappanee Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed BBQ grilling, fishing, and mushroom hunting.
Mr. Yoder is survived by a daughter: Karen Wingrove, Pittsburg, Pa.; son: Kent (Linda) Yoder, Greenville, S.C.; grandchildren: Allison; Leah; Leslie; Laura; Kristen; fourt great-grandchildren; sisters: Bernice Penrose; Wilma Bricker, both of Nappanee; Betty (Robert) Yunker, Elkhart; and brothers: Merlin (Ruth) Yoder; and Eugene (Pat) Yoder, both of Nappanee. He was preceded in death by a brother: Delbert; and an infant sister: Mary Jane Yoder.
Family and friends may call from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, July 19, at Thompson-Lengacher and Yoder Funeral Home, Nappanee, and for one hour prior to the service which will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 20, at Nappanee United Methodist Church. Rev. Jim Davidson will officiate. Cremation will take place and inurnment will be in Bremen Cemetery at a later date.
