Four Injured In Golf Cart Accident
NORTH WEBSTER — The driver and three passengers on a golf cart were injured in an accident at 7:39 p.m. Sunday, July 5, on North Kalorama Road, south of EMS T37 Lane.
Elizabeth A. McClain, 61, Aboite Center Road, Fort Wayne, driver of the golf cart, told police she was traveling south on Kalorama Road when the golf cart went over some loose gravel. McClain lost control of the golf cart, causing it to over turn. McClain was pinned under the golf cart while the other passengers were thrown from the golf cart.
McClain suffered road rash on both legs and was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital.
Michael Himes, 70, Heron Preserve Trail, Fort Wayne, a front seat passenger, suffered lacerations to his head. Maryann Gerken, 60, Rygate Drive, Renoldsburg, Ohio, a back driver side passenger, complained of neck and back pain. They were also transported to KCH.
Jeff Gerken,59, Rygate Drive, Renoldsburg, Ohio, a back middle passenger, complained of pain to the neck and was taken to Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.
McClain was given a portable breath test and agreed, under the Indiana Implied Consent law, to have a blood draw. McClain tested .083 on the portable breath test.
Damage to the golf cart was estimated up to $2,500.
