Warsaw Aqua Mile Time Trials This Saturday
WARSAW – As part of the Northern Indiana Lakes Festival, the Warsaw Aqua Mile Open Water Swim Time Trials will take place on Saturday, June 20.
The event is set to begin at 10 a.m. in Center Lake at Central Park.
Ethan Cook, a Warsaw Parks and Recreation Department lifeguard and seasoned swimmer, will be “racing” in his fifth straight year since the Aqua Mile race was first started by Troy Turley in 2011.
Cook will be a senior this year at Warsaw Community High School and swims an average of between four to seven miles a day during his PRO Swimming club (a USA Swim Club), which holds practices at Wawasee Middle School. He hopes to beat his best time of just under 22 minutes for this Saturday’s one mile swim. During the school year and swim team season, Cook swims the 100 and 200 freestyle, and 100 butterfly events for the WCHS boys’ swim team.
