Sixteen Vying For Queen Of Lakes
There will be 16 young ladies vying for the title of 2015 Queen of Lakes at this year’s North Webster Mermaid Festival. The 2015 Queen of Lakes pageant will be at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 27, in the North Webster Community Center.
The pageant is sponsored by the North Webster Lioness and Lions Clubs and the Shoop Sport and Youth Foundation Inc. The pageant registration was open to young ladies ages 16 to 23.
The theme for this year’s Mermaid Festival, including the pageant, is “Back to the 70s.”
Over $5,000 worth of scholarship money and prizes will be awarded to the 2015 Queen of Lakes and her court. Contestants will be judged by interview, theme outfits and formal gown. Four finalists will be chosen as princesses for 2015. The queen will be chosen from the four princesses.
The 2015 Queen of Lakes will have the title for one year. The final four will receive scholarships, ranging from $500 to $2,000. The Lioness Club Community Service Award winner will also receive a monetary prize.
Scholarships will also be awarded for the top three Mermaid Festival Queen’s Conveyances, ranging from $250 to $750.
