Indy Hosting Halo Championship Series
Pro Gaming League (PGL) is partnering with 343 Industries (343i) and Twitch.tv to host the Halo Championship Series (HCS) tournament at the Indianapolis Convention Center on June 26-28, as part of the Indy PopCon pop culture and comic convention.
The Halo Championship Series (HCS) is a professional video game tournament centered around Halo, the Xbox hit franchise. The HCS features a mix of online and in-person LAN tournaments of varying tournament formats, prize pools and “HCS Points” values. The PGL LAN tournament will showcase more than 60 teams of competitive video gamers including the top eight Halo Pro Teams in the world battling for their share of $50,000 and a chance to be invited to the Season 2 Finals by ESL later this year. The action will be broadcast live via www.Twitch.tv/Halo.
Millions of fans have tuned in to watch Halo on Twitch since the HCS began with the launch of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. The Halo Championship Series is the official Halo eSports league established by 343 Industries to create the best environment and platform for competitive Halo game play.
“We are thrilled to partner with 343 Industries and Twitch.tv, some of the best names in eSports, to host the Indianapolis Halo Championship Series $50,000 LAN tournament,” said PGL President Chad Larsson. “One in five U.S. gamers watch or participate in eSports. Events such as these play a major role in growing the PGL community and fan base.”
Turtle Entertainment / Electronic Sports League (ESL) is the official tournament organizer. Twitch Interactive, Inc. (Twitch) is the official HCS broadcast partner.
