Silver Lake Town Council Approves New Thermal Imaging Camera
The Silver Lake Town Council held its monthly meeting at 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 10, at the Silver Lake Town Hall.
The council gave its approval to the purchase of a thermal imaging camera needed by the Silver Lake Fire Department. John Conley, assistant fire chief, said the department was able to raise $4,000 for the camera from the Silver Lake Hog Roast. The camera costs approximately $9,635.
Conley stated the township would provide funds that are undetermined at this time to go toward the final cost of the camera. Conley asked the town council if it would provide $1,750. The council unanimously approved $1,750 to go toward the thermal imaging camera.
The second item discussed was the new tornado siren that will be installed. Craig Hollopeter, town marshal, noted the old siren was torn down and a new one would be put up in the next few weeks. Hollopeter also said that a Facebook message would be posted about tornado siren testing so the community is aware.
