Former Walkerton Library Interim Director Sentenced For Fraud
David Capp, the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Indiana, has announced the sentencing for Scott Klingerman, 45, South Bend, for the crime of wire fraud.
Klingerman was sentenced June 10 to 20 months in prison and two years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay restitution of $26,654.62 to the Walkerton-Lincoln Township Public Library, along with $6,238.68 to the state of Indiana.
According to court documents, Klingerman used library funds to pay for personal expenses such as his health club membership and hotel rooms without authorization. He was the interim director of the Walkerton-Lincoln Township Public Library in Walkerton, from 2010 through 2013.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Jesse M. Barrett as a result of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
