Kosciusko
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department investigated the following accidents:
11:20 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, East CR 1300N and North CR 175E, Syracuse. Driver: Kathleen A. Kiefer, 65, Heide Lane, Milford. Hit deer. Damage up to $5,000.
7:13 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, North CR 800W, north of West CR 400N, Etna Green. Driver: Rachel N. Blankenship, 18, South Walnut Street, Etna Green. Lost control on the bumpy road, going off the road and becoming stuck in a corn field. Damage under $750.
5:56 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, North SR 19, south of Haney Drive, Nappanee. Drivers: Kyle R. Wuchter. 24, Anchorage Road, Warsaw, and Keenan S. Yates, 22, West Center St., Warsaw. Wuchter complained of leg pain and a headache from the airbag deployment. He refused EMS. Wuchter reached down for a cigarette and did not see the Yates vehicle slowing until the last minute, hitting the back of Yates’ vehicle. Damage up to $10,000.
5:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, North CR 475E and East 450N, Leesburg. Drivers: Carrie A. Allen, 36, EMS B45 Lane, Leesburg, and Leanne A. Turner, 41, North CR 450E, Leesburg. Allen’s vehicle struck the side of the Turner vehicle. Damage up to $5,000.
2:34 p.m. Thursday, June 4, North SR 19, north of West CR 1050N, Nappanee. Driver: Jeffery D. Howey, 34, Patterson Road, Bremen. Howey suffered a non-incapacitating chest injury. Howey failed to yield the right of way for a horse drawn buggy driven by Marietta Yoder, 48, West CR 1050N, Nappanee. Howey’s vehicle struck the back of the buggy, went off the roadway and rolling over. Howey was transported to the hospital for medical care. Occupants of the buggy refused medical care. Damage up to $25,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
2:48 a.m. Wednesday, June 10, South Hand Avenue, south of West Market Street, Warsaw. Driver: Craig E. Heitzman, 57, North Ward, Elkhart. Heitzman was southbound on Hand and thought his vehicle was low enough to clear the bridge, but was too tall, hitting the bridge. The roof was torn off the vehicle. The bridge was found to be structurally all right. Damage up to $5,000.
