David Allen Coe, Ralphie May Coming To The Lerner
Country legend David Allan Coe and comedian Ralphie May are coming to the Lerner Theatre for shows later this year, and tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, June 12.
Coe will be on stage at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, while May will appear for a 7 p.m. concert Sunday, Sept. 20. Both shows are presented by SHOUT! Promotions.
David Allan Coe appears incapable of separating the good from the ridiculous in his remarkable songs and stage presence. Evolving from his days as the “Mysterious Rhinestone Cowboy,” the country outlaw delivers his deeply personal and cynical sound in an unvarnished way to his legion of fans.
He’s written No. 1 songs for Johnny Paycheck (“Take This Job And Shove It”) and Tanya Tucker ( “Would You Lay With Me (In A Field Of Stone)?”) and had his own recording success with “Jack Daniels If You Please,” “The Ride,” “Mona Lisa Lost Her Smile,” and “Now I Lay Me Down To Cheat.” His addition to Steve Goodman’s “You Never Even Called Me By My Name,” truly is the perfect country song.
In the world of stand-up comedy, Ralphie May is huge. And his weight is just one of the punchlines.
Livin’ large after his hit Netflix special, “Unruly,” Ralphie May has built a career on observational comedy inspired by greats like Sam Kinison, Lenny Bruce and Richard Pryor. He was a finalist on the first season of “Last Comic Standing,” and carried the momentum to countless late-night TV appearances and a series of Comedy Central specials.
Tickets will be available through TheLerner.com, the theatre box office at 410 S. Main St., Elkhart, or by calling (574) 293-4469. Prices for the David Allan Coe show range from $29.50 to $45.50, while all seats for Ralphie May will be $35.
