Webster Man Uses Stolen Credit Card Used At Convenience Store
A North Webster man, who allegedly stole a credit card, was apprehended after a video shows him making two purchases at a Freedom Express Convenience Store.
Brandon D. Long, 33, 140 S. East St., North Webster, was arrested Friday, May 22, on two counts of fraud. He was held on $5,000 surety bond.
North Webster Police Officer David May reports in court documents, dated May 21, that on April 11, he was contacted by Miranda Studebaker who stated her debit card had been stolen. Long was identified as a suspect.
Studebaker told police she gave another female permission to use her debit card to pay for items at a CVS. She had forgotten about the card and later contacted the other female, who told her the card had been stolen. The credit card company was contacted and canceled, however it was discovered the card was used twice at a Freedom Express Convenience Store.
The first purchase was on April 20, for cigarettes and coffee totaling $14.13. The second purchase was made two minutes later for cigarettes for $6.73.
Police spoke with an employee at the business who confirmed Long was the one who made the two purchases. Copies of receipts and a copy of a video showing Long making the purchases were provided.
Long was interviewed by police who admitted making the purchases.
