Trojans Take Final NSC Golf Tourney
CULVER – Triton made its final chance at conference glory a special one. The Trojans shot a 333 to win the Northern State Conference boys golf tournament at Mystic Hills Golf Course.
In what was the final time the Northern State Conference gathered for the annual conference boys golf tournament, it was also the final time the NSC will gather for anything. Saturday’s golf tournament marked the final sport to hold its end-of-season competition marking the final time the soon-to-be defunct conference competes this spring.
The Trojans made Mystic Hills feel like home, besting runner-up Jimtown by 16 strokes. Triton’s top four all finished inside the top eight, earning All-NSC honors. Jordan Anderson shot a 79 to finish second overall, just behind medalist Broc Maurer of Jimtown, who was the conference medalist at 75.
Greg Music was third at 80, Braden Kreft was fourth at 84 and Isaac Wall tied for eighth with Sam Newhart of John Glenn and Dawson Curl of New Prairie at 90, all earning All-NSC honors. Gavin Eads shot a 91 to place 11th overall to earn Honorable Mention All-NSC honors.
New Prairie was third at 364, LaVille fourth at 378, Bremen fifth at 384, Culver sixth at 396, John Glenn seventh at 404 and Knox eighth at 435.
Triton still has a week of work to take care of before the state tournament begins. Triton will take part in the Bob Turner Classic Tuesday at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club then host a triangular with Bremen and Tippecanoe Valley Thursday. Triton will play in the Lafayette Jeff Invite next Saturday ahead of the Warsaw Sectional June 5 at Rozella Ford Golf Course.
