Opal L. Shepard
Opal L. Shepard Poe, 86 of Warsaw, passed away at 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, in Kosciusko Community Hospital, Warsaw.
On June 18, 1928, Opal was born in Viper, Kentucky to Benton and Katy (Adams) Reynolds. She was united in marriage to Jasper Shepard in 1949, who preceded her in death in 1999. She then married James E. Poe in 2005, who preceded her in death in 2011.
Opal moved to Warsaw in 1988, from Dade City, Florida. She was a member of Lighthouse Ministries and Living Hope Ministries, Warsaw.
Opal is survived by three daughters: Katie Alvarez, Warsaw; Rebecca Shepherd, Warsaw; and Phyllis (Rick) Gibson, North Webster; three sons: Elbert Clay Shepard, Warsaw; Jasper Paul (Dewanda) Shepard Jr., Pensacola, Florida; and George Eugene (Grace) Shepard, Silver Lake; two brothers: Butler Reynolds, Hazard, Kentucky; and R.B. Reynolds, Hazard, Kentucky; three sisters: Mary Reynolds, Knox; Betty Hatcher, Oswego; and Kathy Hatcher, Warsaw; 24 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers and one grandson.
Visitation hours will be from 10 a.m. until noon Monday, May 11, at Living Hope Ministries, Warsaw. A funeral service will be at noon Monday, May 11, at the church with Pastor Lewis Wedsel Shepherd officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
